Climb Bio is a clinical-stage biotechnology company advancing therapeutics for patients with immune-mediated diseases. Climb Bio has a pipeline that includes therapies for primary membranous nephropathy (pMN), immune thrombocytopenia, systemic lupus erythematosus, and IgA nephropathy,
Climb Bio came to us with a critical need: develop a distinctive brand identity for its Phase 2 clinical trial in pMN that would resonate with patients, caregivers, trial site staff, and physicians alike.
Our Process
We began with in-depth interviews with Climb Bio’s leadership and employees, along with a focused work session designed to uncover the company’s values, trial goals, and the perspectives of different audiences. These conversations, combined with our own experience in clinical trial branding, gave us a clear foundation for shaping the trial’s voice and identity.
From these insights, we crafted a creative brief that distilled the trial’s purpose, goals, and values into a set of guiding principles. Central to this brief was the commitment to patient-centricity, safety, integrity, and compassionate care—values that needed to be visible not just in how the trial was run, but in how it communicated itself to the world.
Insights & Strategy
Our discovery process surfaced several core insights:
- Patients and caregivers need communication that feels empathetic, accessible, and trustworthy—addressing their fears of renal failure, treatment side effects, and the burden of trial participation.
- Physicians require clarity and professionalism, with an emphasis on robust data and high standards of care.
- Trial site staff value consistency, organization, and a sense of partnership.
These insights drove the brand identity strategy, which we defined with the following principles:
- Professional, trustworthy, and science-driven
- Hopeful but grounded, offering optimism without overpromising
- Approachable and empowering, ensuring the trial felt accessible and supportive to all audiences
Naming & Identity Development
From this foundation, we explored naming directions that could both stand on their own and carry meaning within the medical context. After several rounds of ideation and review, we arrived at the trial name PrisMN—a deliberate play on the letters P, M, and N, reflecting primary membranous nephropathy (pMN) while suggesting clarity, light, and a forward-looking perspective.
We then built a visual/verbal identity system around PrisMN: a logo, tagline, and brand guidelines that ensured consistency across communications. The identity was designed to be distinctive yet approachable—instilling confidence in physicians, while also remaining clear and supportive for patients and their families.
